Birmingham Royal Ballet - Dance Track 25

This event has passed

Birmingham Royal Ballet’s residency opens with a 25th-anniversary celebration of their landmark talent development programme.

We’re having a party – and you’re invited!

Some 200 dancers are taking to the stage to mark 25 years of BRB’s pioneering Dance Track initiative – which has nurtured, trained and supported more than 3,200 young dancers aged 6–11 since it was launched in 1997. With performances, films, talks and more, current Dance Trackers are coming together with DT graduates and special guests to tell the incredible story of how Dance Track has kept our city dancing for 25 years.

Highlights include new works created by Ruth Brill and Kit Holder, former and current BRB Soloists, for students at the Royal Ballet School and Elmhurst Ballet School. Elmhurst students are performing a new version of Dreams of a Sailor, specially recreated by Marion Tate and Rachel Hester from a ballet performed as a young man by BRB Director Carlos Acosta. And there’ll be special performances from BRB Principals Céline Gittens and Brandon Lawrence, who’ll be hosting the event. Here’s to the next 25 years!
