Casual Technicians (all disciplines)

Reporting to the Head of Department and Senior Technicians, Casual Technicians will provide technical services, install, operate and maintain staging & technical equipment (primarily stage but not excluding lighting, sound & video) for Birmingham REP productions, visiting companies and conferences as required.

Casual technicians provide technical services, install, operate and maintain technical equipment primarily in one of the theatre’s Technical Departments: Lighting, Stage or Sound & Video.

This key role provides technical services for Birmingham REP productions, visiting companies and conferences.

Casual Technicians will at times be required to flexibly support across all disciplines to ensure that all technical, maintenance and operations are delivered efficiently and effectively.

This includes ensuring excellent customer service is consistently provided to staff, customers and visitors to The REP & UVB (Unique Venues Birmingham) events while ensuring the efficient technical management & running of REP events & productions. They will ensure that digital technology and sustainability are at the heart of every project.

Lighting Designer for Jack and the Magic Beanstalk

The Rep are looking for a Lighting Designer for our production of Jack and the Magic Beanstalk this festive season.

We are looking for an imaginative and collaborative lighting designer who is comfortable working in a black-box studio space (140 seats), ideally with experience of designing children’s theatre.

Fee: £1,500.00

Finance Officer - Purchase Ledger (Closing Thurs 11 Aug at 12pm)

The Finance Officer – purchase ledger works within the Finance Office and is responsible for the management of purchase ledger invoice processing and payments and associated accounting activities.

The Finance department is responsible for all aspects of the financial management of the theatre and its commercial subsidiaries.

Executive Assistant (Closing Mon 12 September at 12pm)

This role will have responsibility for senior administration support across the Executive and People teams. The person in this role will be providing exemplary service both internally and externally including dealing with VIPs, guests, officials, artists, as well as arranging meetings and correspondence (including minuting senior meetings) up to and including board level.

This role is crucial to the smooth running of a very busy executive office, where key stakeholders are often away from the premises, therefore you must be good at remote diary management and be able to manage your own and others time.

Deputy Head of Lighting

Working alongside the Head of Lighting, this role will have responsibility for all LX requirements for the Rep productions and will assume a hands-on role in the day to day running of the department. You will ensure excellent customer service is consistently provided to staff, customers and visitors to The Rep and UVB events. This role will require you to deputise for the Head of Lighting and ensure the efficient technical management of all events and productions.

There is also responsibility to ensure that digital technology and sustainability are at the heart of every project.

Event Manager

The Event Manager works across the Conference, Banqueting & Events programme with a significant focus on Hospitality and Operations. They are the core of the UVB Event delivery operation and the main point of contact for all clients. They oversee all events ensuring that all operations run smoothly and the food and hospitality service is of a high quality. They are responsible for ensuring the delivery of every agreed aspect of an event whilst ensuring all clients are welcomed and supported during their visit to any of our Unique Venues.

Chef Manager

Kitchen Porter

The responsibilities of the Kitchen Porter will be:

  • To be totally customer focused by consistently delivering excellent customer service with an informed, friendly and effective approach.
  • To ensure that all items of crockery, cutlery, kitchen surfaces and service equipment are kept clean and maintained in a hygienic condition and are ready for use.
  • To assist Kitchen and Food Service Team Members as required in order to ensure that our guests receive the highest standards of service.

Junior Sous Chef

The main responsibilities of the Junior Sous Chef include:

  • To assist with the control and leadership of the kitchen department within the overall policies and controls established by the Company and hotel General Manager, ensuring that the brand values and standards are delivered and budgeted profitability achieved.
