Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street: Content Advice

Recommended age 14+

Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is a new production of Stephen Sondheim’s highly acclaimed 12-time Tony Award-winning masterpiece, directed by Rep Artistic Director Joe Murphy.

A razor-sharp story of retribution, this darkly comic and dramatic musical tells the story of a barber who returns to Georgian London seeking revenge after years of wrongful imprisonment and forming an unlikely partnership with a struggling pie shop owner. Much of the story is set against the backdrop of class division, corruption, and social inequality in Georgian London.

The story contains sensitive content including sexual and rape references, gyrating, animal cruelty, sexual innuendo, mild strong language and suicide references.

Please note, this production also contains stage blood, loud gunshot sound effects, use of a weapon on stage, loud music, haze and strobe lighting throughout.
