Announcing Becoming Nancy!
We’re thrilled to announce that our blockbuster Autumn production will be the new musical Becoming Nancy, directed and choreographed by Broadway legend Jerry Mitchell.
Playing at The Rep from Wed 2 October – Sat 2 November, Becoming Nancy is a coming of age story that has a huge-heart. A new musical that weaves a story of family bonds, first loves, and the courage it takes to find your own spotlight.
Set in London in 1979, and based on the popular coming of age novel by Terry Ronald, Becoming Nancy follows the story of teenager David Starr, who finds himself cast as the female lead in the school play. With book, music and lyrics by Elliot Davis, George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, audiences can expect hilarious, delightful and alarmingly catchy songs in this brilliant new musical.

Becoming Nancy is about finding love. Love of self, love of others and love of what matters most in life. As soon as I saw The Rep and visited Birmingham, I knew that it was the right place to open the show. It’s been a privilege to turn Terry’s beautiful story into a musical, and we are all looking forward to working on the show and sharing this beautiful musical with Birmingham and the rest of Great Britain and the world.“
