UniSlam Grand Finals are the culmination of the UK’s premier student and young people’s poetry event. The Finals will see the country’s top 4 poetry slam teams go head to head for the champions trophy and prize package. It’s poetry but not as you know it.
UniSlam is a poetry festival based around the UK and Ireland National Inter-University Poetry Slam, bringing together teams of poets and performers to battle it out for the UniSlam Champions title. It’s your chance to see poets compete live on stage in Semi-Finals and a thrilling Grand Final, alongside some of Britain’s leading contemporary poets.

Amy Acre
Amy Acre is a poet and editor, living in Nottingham. Her debut collection, Mothersong (Bloomsbury, 2023) was shortlisted for the John Pollard Foundation International Poetry Prize, highly commended in the Forward Prizes and named a Book of the Year in The Telegraph, The Financial Times and California Review of Books. She runs award-winning indie publisher, Bad Betty Press.
Jasmine Gardosi
Jasmine Gardosi is the former Birmingham Poet Laureate and an Honorary Doctor of Letters.
They are a multiple slam champion, beatboxer, winner of the Out-Spoken Prize for Poetry and winner of the Saboteur Award for Best Spoken Word Performer 2023. Their work exploring beatbox poetry, neurodivergence, LGBTQ identity and mental health has appeared on Button Poetry, at the Tate Modern, Glastonbury Festival, Symphony Hall, BBC and Sky Arts. They have been invited to perform and run workshops around the world, and their poem about the pandemic, filmed on a rollercoaster, was broadcast across America on PBS. Their debut solo single about sexuality ‘Dancing To Music You Hate’ fuses Celtic Dubstep and spoken word.

Jamal Mehmood
Jamal Mehmood is a writer and filmmaker based in London. His work has been featured at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Magma, BBC4, Poetry London, and Popula. He has been shortlisted for the Outspoken Prize for Poetry in Film. His latest book ‘The Leaf of the Neem Tree’ (Hajar Press) was released in 2021. Jamal is currently a staff writer at Muftah Magazine.
