This event has sold out

To mark the centenary of Malcolm X’s birth, we are partnering with Writers Mosiac to present an event that remembers the legacy of his impact, his internationalism and his emphasis on the urgency of solidarity in a world that increasingly insists on dividing us.

The event will feature author and academic Kehinde Andrews whose latest book, Nobody Can Give You Freedom, invites the reader to re-discover Malcolm’s revolutionary philosophy outside of the myths fed to us through films and books. Kehinde will be joined by poet and facilitator Sue Brown and Dr Amal Abu-Bakare, PhD. a Lecturer in the Politics of Race and Decolonial Studies.

This event is chaired by John Siddique and supported by Writers Mosiac and the Royal Literary Fund.

Change in line-up

Please note that the previously announced Bonnie Greer will no longer be appearing on this panel due to unforeseen circumstances. Dr Amal Abu-Bakare will join Kehinde Andrews, Sue Brown and John Siddique for this event. Dr Amal Abu-Bakare, PhD, is a Lecturer in the Politics of Race and Decolonial Studies at the University of Liverpool’s Department of Politics. Her research is interested in using anti-colonial and postcolonial International Relations theory to explore how North American and European political and security institutions continue to empower racially configured exclusions, subjugation, and terror.
