Open Casting Call: A Midsummer Night's Dream
The Rep is holding open auditions for local actors to be part of our vibrant new production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, directed by Joe Murphy and Madeleine Kludje.
About the Production
This is a fantastic opportunity for performers from Birmingham and the West Midlands to audition for new Artistic Director, Joe Murphy‘s, debut production, alongside Deputy Artistic Director Madeleine Kludje, on The House stage. We’re looking for actors who fit the casting breakdown to bring this electrifying take on Shakespeare’s classic comedy to life.
When a love-struck teenager is forced to marry a man rather than the woman she loves, she has a few options: certain death, live a lie, move to a nunnery… or flee to a messy, neon rave in an enchanted forest!
Beyond the city walls, boundaries blur, music pulsates, and love is celebrated. But as feisty fairies clash, the seasons spin out of control and the young lovers’ moonlit escape from reality quickly loses its shine. This is Shakespeare’s romantic comedy with a wild, new, Rep twist.
What We’re Looking For
- Passionate, versatile actors who are excited by bold, contemporary storytelling.
- Performers who can bring energy, individuality and openness to Shakespeare’s text.
- Applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences – you do not need to have agent representation to apply.
