5,000 £5 Tickets for Under 25s to A Midsummer Night’s Dream

After the success of last year’s Big Give campaign to raise funding for additional British Sign Language as well as caption screens in The Door, we’re so excited to announce the launch of:

Rep Together

This bold new fundraising campaign aims to raise  funds to subsidise 5,000 £5 tickets for young people under 25 and state schools, for our vibrant new adaptation of Shakespeare’s beloved comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream in Apr 2026. The production also marks our Artistic Director Joe Murphy‘s, ‘The House‘ stage directorial debut, alongside our very own Deputy Artistic Director Madeleine Kludje.

This initiative, which is live from Thu 23 – Mon 27 Oct, will support young people, schools and communities across Birmingham gain access to world class theatre, made in Birmingham – making a difference to those that need it most! We’re seeking the support of our audiences to help subsidise the cost of these low-price tickets and help us keep The Rep an inclusive and inspiring space for future generations.

Joe Murphy, Artistic Director of Birmingham Rep and co-director of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, said:

Theatre should be for everyone. With Rep Together, we’re throwing open the doors to young people who may never have seen Shakespeare on stage before — or even been to the theatre. We want them to feel like this place is theirs, that these stories belong to them. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is the perfect gateway into that world: magical, mischievous, and full of possibility. This campaign is about investing in access, in imagination, and in the future of theatre in this city.”

To achieve this goal, each ticket is subsidised at a cost of £12.50. You can help by donating any amount and kickstart a young persons journey to a life long love of theatre.

And there’s more! Thanks to our incredible match funders, the value of the first 250 tickets sponsored will be doubled.
