Full cast of Sweet Henry V Announced

With 2025 quickly coming to a close, we’re thrilled to usher in the New Year with the kick off of the 2026/ 27 season with a concert performance of the epic new musical, Sweet Henry V – Artistic Director Joe Murphy‘s directorial debut at The Rep! Born to be King. Dying to be free.
This party boi trashbag is about to break history.

It’s 1413, witness the glow up as  Sweet Henry V (it’s pronounced Vee, actually) transforms from playboy prince to the most famous warrior king in British history. All he has to do is defeat the douchebag Prince of Wales, Owain Glyndŵr.

Watch as the anointed King and rebel Prince go head-to-head in this hilarious and heart-rending new musical about that most human of struggles; the quest to find out who we are and where we belong.

Imagine if Shakespeare‘s History Plays donned their lippy and heels and were taken out for a night on the tiles. We’re talking Hamilton meets Braveheart meets Priscilla Queen of Desert in this radical reinvention of history that’s pounding with camp Celtic vibes.

Rep Artistic Director and Sweet Henry V Director, Joe Murphy, said:

I’m absolutely thrilled to announce the cast of the Sweet Henry V concert performance – this ensemble is packed with extraordinary talent. Sweet Henry V is a musical that celebrates everything we love about bold, ambitious storytelling. I am so excited that Birmingham audiences will be the very first to witness this very special concert performance, before it embarks on a full-scale production in the future.”

Sweet Henry V will be directed by Joe Murphy and written by Seiriol Davies. The full creative team announced today are Leo Munby (Musical Director), Livi Van Warmelo (Associate Musical Director), and Lucy Baker-Swinburn (Keyboard Programmer). They will be joined Dan Hayward (Drums), Clive Meldrum (Sound No 1) and Elliot Mitchell (Stage Manager).

Sweet Henry V unravels an epic romantic saga between Hal and OG, packed full of camp Celtic Vibes and featuring a live band playing over thirty original numbers. Join us for this radical reinvention of history in an exclusive script-in-hand concert on Fri 23 & Sat 24 Jan!
