Anansi The Spider to go on a West Midlands Library Tour

The tiniest of audience members from London to Birmingham have been absolutely falling in love with cheeky little trickster, Anansi The Spider. And since it’s the giving season, we thought we should share the greatest tales ever spun with communities across the West Midlands!

We’re thrilled to announce that Anansi The Spider will be heading out on tour to perform in 17 libraries across the West Midlands from Tue 20 Jan – Sat 7 Feb in a scaled-down version of the production.

Performers in traditional African attire participate in a vibrant musical number under a large, intricately patterned canopy, surrounded by wooden structures that resemble trees, on a stage illuminated with blue lighting.

During Anansi The Spider‘s run both at Unicorn Theatre and here at The Rep, we’ve been met with overwhelmingly positive response from critics and audiences alike, and we hope to see the same brilliant reactions as we bring the magic of theatre on the road to families across the West Midlands.

This jam-packed show full of live music, singing and dancing, is inspired by Akan fables from across West African and Caribbean about the trickster, Anansi.

Tickets will be free thanks to the generous support of Arts Council England.

The production has been directed by Robin Belfield and created by  Justin Audibert and is a magical introduction to the theatre for little ones aged 4 – 8.
