Intervals with Marianne Brooker
A Politics of Care
This event has passed
In 2009, during a harsh wave of austerity, Marianne Brooker’s mother was diagnosed with primary progressive multiple sclerosis. Meeting the diagnosis with creativity and determination, over time her ability to work, move and live without pain diminished drastically. Determined to die in her own home, on her own terms, she stopped eating and drinking in 2019.
Intervals reckons with heartbreak and the precarious economies of social, hospice and funeral care, wrestling with the questions of what makes a good death and a good daughter.
