It’s Time to Cut

Editing can feel brutal—especially when it’s someone else’s words on the chopping block. But part of a director’s job is knowing what needs to go. In this session, we’ll lean into the messier side of directing: shaping, trimming, and making bold decisions in the rehearsal room.

We’ll explore how to refine scenes with clarity and purpose, and how to lose what’s not serving the story—even if it stings. This is about tightening the work, trusting your instincts, and owning the power of a well-placed cut.

For this session, we’ll be inviting participants to share a piece of their work that they’re happy to have read aloud or explored together in the space. This could be up to two pages in length, or even a collection of ideas—just something they’d be open to receiving feedback on.
