Welcome DLA Piper Birmingham as official sponsor of our 50th Birthday Season

As our very special anniversary season gets underway, celebrating 50 years of our iconic home in Centenary Square, we are absolutely delighted to welcome DLA Piper in Birmingham as official sponsor of the season.

DLA Piper Birmingham is the city’s only global law firm; with lawyers located in more than 40 countries. Having moved into their new offices in Chamberlain Square in August, we are thrilled to welcome them and their 160 employees as The Rep’s neighbours.

DLA Piper and in particular the Birmingham office, are extremely passionate about the arts and are dedicated to investing in the city and its cultural institutions. In December 2020, the firm also provided crucial match funding for our ‘Save a Seat’ Christmas appeal.

“I am really delighted to announce our sponsorship support for The Rep in this their 50th birthday year. As a firm, we are passionate about supporting our local cultural arts venues, especially after the past 18 months. When selecting The Rep we were struck by the synergies between our organisations, notably our shared agenda to increase access and opportunities for young people from a diverse range of backgrounds. We know that The Rep plays a vital role in nurturing young performers at the start of their career, something that very much aligns to our firm values and programmes. It’s brilliant that my colleagues and their families will now be able to enjoy some of the best theatre productions in the UK” – Trevor Ivory, Birmingham Managing Partner at DLA Piper.

The impact of the pandemic has been devastating for the theatre industry and for arts organisations across the country. As a registered charity with vastly reduced public subsidy, the support of businesses and the corporate sector in general has never been more important for the arts.

This sponsorship is a wonderful example of how businesses and arts organisations can work together for the benefit of audiences and local communities. By sponsoring our season at this pivotal moment in our history, DLA Piper will help to secure our future as we celebrate half a century on Centenary Square and look to the next 50 years.” – Rachel Cranny, Head of Fundraising

Alongside our anniversary season, our Open House redevelopment will transform the frontage and public areas of our building, creating an inclusive and welcoming entrance and foyer, and better connecting us with the beautifully rejuvenated square. Crucially the project generate additional revenue, which will be reinvested in making world class theatre, engaging with communities and nurturing the artists of tomorrow, helping to pave the way for The Rep’s next 50 years.
