Behind the Scenes
The Rep provides practical workshops to instil students and young people with a chance to explore and discover the key themes and ideas of productions. These workshops are completely bespoke. Whether you are a school or a local organisation we will endeavour to devise a suitable workshop for your young people.
If there is something you would like our Drama Practitioners to explore with your young people let us know and we will plan around it. In the past schools have got in touch for workshops based on texts they are studying or theatre projects they are working on. No matter what the request is we would be happy to see how we can support with these.
We also provide pre-show and post-show workshops which are perfect to link with a trip to the theatre. If there is a show you plan on watching and want us to work with your young people to explore the themes of the story we can send our practitioners to work with your groups.
Workshops can take place either in your school or at The Rep so why not couple your visit with a Backstage Tour and see how a producing theatre works?

Backstage Tours – Backstage Tours can be booked directly through box office. Book a backstage tour and discover what happens behind the scenes of our productions.
Post-show Discussions – For many of our productions there are opportunities for the general public to ask questions directly to cast members and creative teams. Details of dates and times of post-show discussions can be found on our website under specific show titles.
Bespoke Visits – If you are an organisation that is interested in booking a workshop with us, or a backstage tour that includes a panel talk with rep staff or both, get in touch at learning@birmingham-rep.co.uk
