Spotlight on Debbie Isitt
The prolific, BAFTA award winning, Birmingham born playwright, screen writer, film director and radical theatrical performer discusses her wide ranging and innovative career in both theatre and film with Executive Producer/Film Professor, Roger Shannon.
Debbie has recently collaborated with Birmingham Repertory Theatre on two adaptations; firstly, The Hundred And One Dalmatians by Dodie Smith, and secondly, the stage version of her own very successful Nativity! film series.
Her film career has taken her from original shorts, such as Wasps for the BFI, via low budget cult classics such as Nasty Neighbours and Confetti, to the trio of box office commercial smashes, Nativity!, Nativity 2 and Nativity 3.
Comedy and improvisation, in both writing and performance, characterise Debbie's creative momentum between theatre and film, and back again. 'In Conversation' she will throw a spotlight on the distinctive approach she applies to the development of her film and theatrical works as writer, director and adaptor.
