Playhouse gives primary school teachers and youth theatre directors the opportunity to direct specially commissioned plays by leading playwrights, with professional support from the Birmingham Repertory Theatre.

Playhouse is a national project that also runs at Theatre Royal Plymouth, Polka Theatre in London and York Theatre Royal.

The plays are specifically written for primary school aged casts and the teachers/directors have all taken part in a weekend retreat delivered by the four partnership theatres that developed their directing skills and allowed them to work with the play's writers.
