Description

A unique theatrical circus experience by Cirkus Xanti and Ali Williams comes to The REP for its premiere as part of Birmingham Weekender. This powerful and poignant show makes an artistic and social impact using spoken word, movement, circus and ceremony. Cirkus Xanti, a Norwegian Company has been creating contemporary circus performances entertaining audiences all over the world for over 40 years. Ali Williams is a co-Founder of NoFit State, the UK's leading large-scale contemporary circus company, and in a 30-year period created a number of world-class shows and projects with the company.

Three performers from Nepal and Vietnam tell the story of how, against all odds, they survived being trafficked to Indian circuses as children, and created their own destiny. Renu Ghalan and Aman Tamang, who met Ali Williams when they were part of Circus Kathmandu, have joined Vietnamese artist Loan TP Hoang to ask questions about life, love, poverty and greed, sharing their tales of lost childhoods.

Produced through an international partnership between artistic directors from two renowned European circus companies, As A Tiger In The Jungle is set to be a highlight of the Birmingham Weekender line-up.
