Volunteers Week - Meet James Christmas
As part of #VolunteersWeek, we caught up with one of our Marketing Volunteers, James Christmas, who chats to us about volunteering at The REP and why it is a great way to gain essential experience.
How did you first hear about volunteering at The REP?
I first heard about volunteering at The REP through their website. I had just completed university and knew I wanted to do something to get involved with theatre, so I looked and thought volunteering at The REP would be a great idea.
What tasks have you undertaken as a volunteer?
My tasks as a marketing volunteer have included keeping front of house print topped-up and tidy, researching and liaising with other organisations about potential marketing opportunities, and planning a press event for an upcoming production.
What would you say to someone interested in volunteering at The REP?
I would highly recommend anyone to volunteer at The REP. The people are kind and friendly and it is a fantastic environment, also it is great fun.
What has been your favourite part of being a volunteer?
Travelling to Grand Central station with the musicians from La Strada and handing flyers out for a pop-up performance has been one of my favourite things. Listening to them practice in the taxi on the way felt pretty rock n' roll!
Why do you think volunteering is important?
Volunteering is important because it allows wonderful organisations like The REP to run even better, plus you feel great for helping out and overall it is a terrific experience.
