REPair Appeal

We have now reached our initial £50,000 target – the cost of installing a new air cooling system in our existing theatre spaces. Our heartfelt thanks go out to all who have donated to our appeal over the last year. We really are fortunate to have such amazing audiences who have demonstrated their support by joining our supporter schemes, giving at ‘Pledge Nights’ and donating online. The response has been overwhelming and we can now look forward to making the temperature more bearable in our auditoria during the warmer weather.

Our appeal however continues. We always said that if we exceeded our £50,000 target for the REPair Appeal, then all future donations will be allocated to other capital projects. Having done just that, we now look forward to our next goal.

Our next priority is to improve our facilities for our customers who are blind, visually impaired, Deaf, deafened or hard of hearing. To do this we require a new radio system that can provide superior audio description and hearing assistance facilities across our auditoria. Our existing system is old and unreliable. Technology has advanced and our system is no longer compatible with modern digital hearing aids. A new system will overcome these problems.

To install a new radio system in both of our existing auditoria will cost £40,000, we have so far raised £23,000 towards this total from applications to local trusts. That leaves us with £17,000 still left to fundraise and we would really appreciate your help!

Over the next year and a half we will be trying to raise over £800,000 to pay for essential improvements around our building. So, if we exceed our target of £40,000 for the hearing system we will allocate funds to other important areas in need of improvement. All of this work is crucial to the future success of The REP, when we re-open in 2013 we want to ensure that we have a theatre that is fit for the 21st Century!
