The Young REP
The Young REP, The REP’s youth theatre company, works with young people aged between eight and twenty five across Birmingham and the West Midlands. We work with professional staff to create and produce a broad range of high quality theatrical experiences.

Young REP City Juniors
This group provides an introduction to basic performance skills and is comprised of two companies of actors aged between 8 and 11 who rehearse in Birmingham City centre at the new Birmingham Ormiston Academy. Past productions have included Homer’s Illiad.
Young REP Northfield Juniors
This group provides an introduction to basic performance skills and is comprised of one company of actors aged between 8 and 11 who rehearse at Northfield YMCA. A video diary of their rehearsals for devised production Secrets And Gardens can be viewed online.
Young REP City 11-13s
This group’s emphasis is an increased skillbase and is comprised of two companies of actors aged between 11 and 13 who rehearse at Birmingham Ormiston Academy. Past productions have included Shakespeare’s Macbeth.
Young REP Shenley 11-13s
This group’s emphasis is on devised theatre and it is comprised of one company of actors aged between 11 and 13 who rehearse at Shenley Academy in South Birmingham. Past productions have included a devised performance based on the work of Oscar Wilde.
Young REP City 14-18s
This group’s emphasis is on gaining professional experience and on performing new plays and updated classics. It is comprised of three companies of actors aged between 14 and 18 who rehearse at Birmingham Ormiston Academy. Past productions have included Ostrich Boys.
Young REP Shenley 14-18s
This group’s emphasis is on devised theatre and it is comprised of one company of actors aged between 14 and 18 who rehearse at Shenley Academy in South Birmingham. Past productions have included a devised performance based on the work of Oscar Wilde performed at the Old Rep Theatre.
Young REP Small Heath
This group’s emphasis is on learning and developing core drama techniques and is comprised of one company of actors aged 11+ who rehearse at Small Heath School in East Birmingham. Past productions have included Dream Nights, a modern retelling of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Young REP First Chance
This group’s emphasis is on increasing and promoting the creativity of young people affected by homelessness. It is comprised of one company of actors aged 16-25 and is sponsored by Mitchells and Butlers. Past productions have included Long Lost
Young REP Playwrights
This group’s emphasis is on nurturing the creativity of young people and increasing their understanding of the craft of playwriting. It is comprised of one group of writers aged 14-18 and meets at Birmingham Ormiston Academy.
