Young REP
The Young REP, The REP’s youth theatre company, works with young people aged between eight and eighteen across Birmingham and the West Midlands. We work with professional staff to create and produce a broad range of high quality theatrical experiences.
We run weekly sessions at The REP, Small Heath School, Shenley Court Specialist Arts College, Parkview Specialist Business College and Perry Beeches School.
We produce a wide range of theatre productions at The REP, other city venues and at all of our Satellite venues across the City.
All Young REP groups are currently full.

Groups based at The REP
Junior REP
This workshop focuses on having fun and developing new skills for the younger members of the Young REP Company. It acts as a training and introduction workshop to The Young REP and explores all aspects of theatre as well as offering performance opportunities throughout the year.
Open to all young people aged 8-10
Musical Theatre
This focuses on developing skills such as close harmony singing and dance. We explore the different genres of musicals and are committed to developing new styles of work in a creative way.
Open to everybody aged 11-18
Plays And New Writing
The main focus of this group is on learning the process of producing a play. We work with professional directors and writers to offer an exciting programme of new and dynamic plays for young people to take part in. Some of the work is entered in local and national drama festivals.

New Skills
These include mask, physical theatre, storytelling, script and text, audition techniques, radio, choreography and movement and digital media in performance. Participants work with visiting directors to develop new skills. This group also offers performance opportunities throughout the year.
Open to everybody aged 11-18
Mentoring
A one-to-one training programme over 12 months working alongside professional artists to learn new skills. The aim is to encourage creative exploration of ideas and to turn them into reality.
Open to young people aged 16 and over
