Ella asks Annie is she thinks she is a good mother. Annie’s response is:

“They’re big enough and daft enough to look after themselves, Ella, you’ve warned them and that’s all you can do, you’ve four more to think about. If they want to leave it’s their choice. You put your foot down when it comes to Meenah, that’s where you make your stand and you know it. You’re a good mother to those kids and a bloody good wife to him as well, but you’re in the middle Ella, you have to keep your head down.”
