
Ebenezer Scrooge
Ebenezer Scrooge is a mean, selfish and miserly man. His only pleasure consists of making and saving money, usually at the expense of his employees. He is universally despised, even by his own nephew.

Jacob Marley
In life, Jacob Marley was Scrooge’s business partner. In the play Marley appears to Scrooge as a ghost, sent to forewarn him about the other ghosts that will appear to Scrooge during the course of Christmas Eve night.

Fred
Fred is Scrooge’s nephew. Ever cheerful, he makes many futile attempts to encourage his uncle to enjoy life and put a stop to his miserly ways.

Belle
A character from Scrooge’s past, Belle was the love of Scrooge’s life. Following an argument, Belle leaves Scrooge as a young man and marries another. Scrooge is reminded of this part of his past by the Ghost of Christmas Past.

Bob Cratchit
Bob Cratchit is Scrooge’s long suffering clerk. He lives a life of poverty as Scrooge is too miserly to pay him a decent wage, but has a large family which makes him very happy. His life is tinged with tragedy however as his son Tiny Tim is sick, and the Cratchits can not afford for him to be treated by a doctor.

Mrs Cratchit
Mrs Cratchit is Bob’s wife. A loving wife and mother, Mrs Cratchit struggles to keep her family fed and clothed on her husband’s meagre wage.

Fezziwig
Mr Fezziwig is the owner of a warehouse for whom Scrooge was once an apprentice.

The Ghost Of Christmas Past
The Ghost of Christmas Past is the first of the three ghosts that Jacob Marley’s ghost predicts will visits Scrooge. The Ghost shows Scrooge images from his past and begins to persuade him to change his ways.

The Ghost Of Christmas Present
The Ghost of Christmas Present is the second of the three spirits to appear to Scrooge on Chirstmas Eve. He shows Scrooge the impact that his mean hearted ways are having on those around him, and how he is becoming more and more unloved by what remains of his family.

The Ghost Of Christmas Yet To Come
The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come is the final spirit to appear to Scrooge. The spirit refuses to speak and merely shows Scrooge the eventual outcome of his life and death should he carry on with his selfish ways. This spirit is the one that mosts disturbs Scrooge and persuades him finally to repent and become more generous to those around him.
