What is your role on the production?

Will As Assistant Director I work alongside the two main directors, Rachel Kavanaugh and Sarah Esdaile. They set me specific tasks and I support them accordingly.

I am currently doing an M.A in Theatre Directing, and I’m augmenting my studies by doing a trainee directorship here at The REP, and I’m here on placement for a year. I thought it would be very useful for me to get a deeper understanding of the craft of directing through working with a range of different directors, and having the opportunity to be part of a working theatre. Through working with different directors I get to explore the different ways they relate to actors and how they work with very different genres of theatre.

So far at The REP I’ve worked on a piece of new writing, an Emily Bronte adaptation and an adaptation of a children’s story.
