David Milford
David is a Science teacher in his mid-fifties who has recently returned to work after a bout of stress related depression. He is an enthusiast about his subject and enjoys sharing his enthusiasm with others.

Kathy Jones
Kathy is a member of the school Senior Management team in her early forties. She does not teach but has responsibility for the pastoral care of pupils and staff including discipline.

Kyle
Kyle is an isolated boy of fourteen/fifteen years old with an interest in science. He has an inquiring mind. He is eager to avoid the negative attention of other pupils. His father has recently died from cancer and as a result he has had some time off school and is trying to catch up so that he can work in a group more appropriate to his abilities.

Reece
Reece is a pupil who persistently refuses to engage in lessons and is repeatedly sent out of class, he quips and banters incessantly. He demands attention through his distraction techniques and tries to control every situation. He has difficulty reading, sets off fires alarms and puts radioactive samples in the Teacher’s tea.

Chantay
Chantay is a disenchanted young woman of mixed English/Caribbean heritage of fourteen/fifteen years old. She persistently uses her phone to text or video and has a concern for her brother in the army in the Middle East.
