Customer Circle
If you attend The REP on a regular basis, then you might be interested in joining our Customer Circle. This group meets three or four times each year and help us to ensure that we are meeting our customers’ needs, by offering a customer perspective on our programme, customer care, service levels, value for money and other general feedback about our operation. If you are interested in joining the Customer Circle please email generalmanager@birmingham-rep.co.uk.
Writers
Our Attachment programme gives opportunities for new writers from a range of backgrounds to develop a play with practical support from The REP. It also gives more established writers a chance to explore new directions in their writing. As well as productions at The REP, writers on Attachment have gone on to award-winning theatre work elsewhere, and film, radio and television writing.
Attachment scheme
Our Attachment programme is open to both established writers and beginners, of all ages throughout the UK. Application is by means of an existing full-length play, an idea for a new play you would like to develop and some pages of sample dialogue.
If you are successful you will receive a period of intensive development at The REP (typically a year, although this can vary). During this time, you will have the opportunity to work with other practitioners according to the needs of your piece. This could include working with a dramaturg, mentoring from another playwright, rehearsed readings with actors and a director, research help from historians, scientists or other experts, the chance to work with musicians or choreographers and much more.
The aim of this development process is to create exciting new work we can commission for our theatre spaces. Previous writers on attachment who have gone on to be produced in The Door include Ray Grewal, Jess Walters, Sarah Woods and Declan Croghan.

Backstage tours & talks by arrangement
We offer several backstage tours each season, offering a glimpse into life behind the scenes at The REP. You can book these HERE. If your group would like a private backstage tour, or you would like someone from the theatre to speak at an event, this can sometimes be arranged. E-mail generalmanager@birmingham-rep.co.uk

Spotlights and After Darks
Spotlights take place prior to evening performances and After Darks take place directly afterwards. These events are designed to give you a greater insight into the thinking behind a production through listening to discussion and having the opportunity to pose questions to members of the creative team and cast. You can find the dates of these events on the show pages on this website.
Theatre Days
Theatre Days take place on our main stage prior to selected matinee performances and offer a unique insight into the creative process involved in putting on a main stage production. Rehearsal techniques, acting, directing, lighting, sound, stage management as well as themes, characters and issues contained in the text are all explored during these events.
