We're Pleased To Announce Our New Catering Partners, Searcys

The renowned catering company responsible for such iconic destinations as the Champagne Bar at St Pancras International Station and the private members’ club at the top of the Gherkin are set to operate our new bar and brasserie when it reopens in September 2013.

Searcys, which was founded in 1847 by the Duke of Northumberland’s pastry chef, is famous for its restaurants at leading venues such as the National Portrait Gallery, Blenheim Palace and Europe’s largest arts centre, The Barbican.

The REP has been closed for the last two years for refurbishment. The work has included significant improvements to the theatre’s bars and restaurants, which have been remodeled to be more open, accessible and welcoming to customers.

The brand new Centenary Bar & Brasserie will open at Birmingham Repertory Theatre on Tuesday, 3 September. The Brasserie, which overlooks Centenary Square, will open every day from breakfast through to pre-show dining and late night snacks.

With seasonal British food, the Brasserie will serve a range of bistro-style dishes, including a specially priced express menu with two courses, ideal for pre-theatre dining. The Centenary Bar will offer a more relaxed affair serving an all-day range of artisan coffees, sandwiches and cakes, well priced wines, charcuterie boards and other bar snacks including gourmet hot-dogs.

As part of the refurbishment The REP will gain a new 300-seat studio theatre, shared with our neighbour the Library of Birmingham in addition to its two existing auditoria the 800-seat main auditorium and 140-seat theatre, The Door. The refurbished REP will also have new hospitality suites with stunning views of Centenary Square, which will be able to host between 120-150 people.

The new auditorium, refurbished foyers and new hospitality suites will enable the theatre to increase our activities in hosting conferences, banquets, meetings, weddings and private parties. Searcys will work in partnership with The REP in marketing and managing all of this activity, allowing us to benefit from their unrivaled expertise and reputation in this area.

Commenting on the new partnership, Stuart Rogers, Executive Director at The REP said:
“We’re thrilled to have Searcys on board as our new catering partners. They have a fantastic reputation for setting up and running very popular restaurants and bars of the highest quality and are also one of the UK’s leading operators in marketing and managing conferencing & banqueting activity. We’re looking forward to working with them to offer our customers the same level of quality that they already offer in such venues as Blenheim Palace, the National Portrait Gallery and the Gherkin.”

Searcys CEO, Doug Tetley said: “We strongly believe that Searcys strikes a great balance between retaining the traditional values of great service, sourcing and quality whilst adding dynamism and fresh thinking – that is exactly what won us this contract.

“We are very excited to be a part of the Birmingham Repertory Theatre’s development and have a presence in the UK’s second city.”

The REP’s auditoria, foyers and hospitality suites are available to hire from September 2013 onwards. For enquiries and further details call 0207 101 0220 or email events@searcys.co.uk.
