This new short film, making its UK premiere, is a compelling document of their take on Noyes’ Fludde by Benjamin Britten (also seen performed in Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom).

Relocating the story of Noah’s Ark to present-day South Africa, and re-imagining Noah as a woman who must hold her family together, Unogumbe is beautifully sung in Xhosa and performed with traditional African instruments. With its irresistible score and a vibrant celebration of life, Unogumbe will have you dancing along.

Isango Ensemble is an award-winning theatre company that draws many of its artists from the townships around Cape Town.

This one-off screening is presented in partnership with Flatpack Film Festival and Afrovibes Festival.
