Little Shop Of Horrors
Wed 1 Sep 2010 – Sat 18 Sep 2010
Main House
Now that the car park next door to The REP is closed, roads and car parks around The REP get very busy in the evenings, especially when there are big events at the NIA and Symphony Hall. We advise you to check their websites before your visit, and to allow extra time for your journey.

The REP brings a fabulous new production of the greatest ever science-fiction-spoof-musical Little Shop Of Horrors to the Main House this Autumn.
Down on his luck, Seymour Krelborn spends day in day out slaving away in Mr Musnik’s Florists, mooning over the glamorous and ditsy assistant Audrey, and dreaming of a way out of downtown Skid Row. Until one day, during a total eclipse of the sun, Seymour stumbles upon a strange and exotic new plant that could change his luck forever.
An overnight success, the newly christened Audrey II offers Seymour a ticket out of Skid Row and perhaps even a chance of a date with the real life Audrey – but this ain’t no ordinary shrub!
As Audrey II grows to monstrous proportions and develops a blood thirsty appetite, Seymour gives in to her ferocious demands. Will Seymour survive Audrey II’s plans for global domination? And can he grab his chance for a life of fame, fortune and true love?
Featuring the music from the hit 1986 film, including Somewhere That’s Green and Suddenly Seymour, Little Shop Of Horrors is a mouth-wateringly fun night out for all!
New Wolsey Theatre’s Artistic Director Peter Rowe makes his directorial debut at The REP, along with an incredibly talented cast of actor musicians who sing, dance, act and play every instrument in the show.

IAN from BILSTON
I SAW THIS BRILLIANT SHOW AT THE HIPPODROME LAST YEAR AND WANT TO SEE IT AGAIN. IT DIDN'T FEATURE THE SONG "MEAN GREEN MOTHER FROM OUTER SPACE" THOUGH, WHICH WAS A BIT OF A SHOCK. THE ENDING WAS DIFFERENT TO THE FILM TOO, VERY GOOD THROUGHOUT! 10/10
Steph from The REP
Hi Ian - thanks for your message! Great to hear that you're looking forward to seeing the show - this is a new production which will be rehearsed, designed and built by The REP (ie not the version which toured last year) so you'll enjoy the same great story with a different cast, set, costumes and direction.
Steph from The REP
Also hello James - I've added all of the creative team details to the page now, as well as most of the cast. We're still casting the last one or two people but these will be added to the site as soon as we know them.
Carla from Leamington
Is it really a new version that you will showing?Peter Rowe directed LSOH at the New Wolsey in Ipswich a couple of years ago with the same creative team and pretty much the same principle cast. Is it this version that you will be showing?
Steph from The REP
Hi Carla - you are quite correct - this new version is based on the production Peter did in Ipswich, with a new set, props, costumes etc all built and made here in Birmingham.
christina from birmingham/coventry
hi i was wondering if there was a age limit for this show as my 4 year old absolutely loved the film and i would love for him to see it in theatre
Clare from The REP
Hi Christina. There are no age restrictions on this show.
James from Birmingham
Hi, Do you know if there will be any loud bangs or pyrotechnics used in the show? I know near the end of LSOH he fires a gun a few times, are these from like a gun with blanks in them or from an audio sound effect? Many thanks, really can't wait to see the show now!! "Break a leg" with tomorrow's opening performance!! From James
roger from tipton
what an excellent show
Clare from The REP
Hi James, No pyrotchnics are used, but there is thunder, the gunshot and some very loud music. Roger, Pleased to hear you liked it!

James from Solihull
Love Little Shop of Horrors, possibly my favourite musical ever!! :D Love the film and the show from the West End (on tour last year in Coventry) and will definately be coming to see it at the Rep!!! :D I'm sure it will be fantastic at the Rep- sounds interesting having the cast play the instruments as well as singing, dancing and acting! Please can you tell me (appart from Director Peter Rowe) who the cast or creative team will be for this show?? and also are there any backstage tours available while Little Shop of Horrors is on like you advertise for other shows in the brochure for (usually on a Saturday at about 10:30 or 11:00am)?? Looking forward to seing this now!! :D
