By J B Priestley

When Inspector Goole arrives unexpectedly at the prosperous Birling family home, their peaceful dinner party is shattered by his investigations into the death of a young woman. His startling revelations shake the very foundations of their lives and challenge us all to examine our consciences.

Epic staging, raw emotion and a sweeping score are just some of the ingredients that have made An Inspector Calls a smash hit all over the world. Winner of 19 major international theatre awards, this hugely successful West End production returns to The REP after its sell-out runs in 2003 and 2005.

This production last time around was excellent, the story line itself is a very clever way of making us all think of how we should not rush to judgement, as the play subtlety reveals all is not what it seems. I felt totally involved in the plot and indeed when i caught up with the line the inspector was taking enjoined with him to expose the hypocrisy of the Birling family and urged him on, In short i became totally immersed in the play. It portrayed the social message in a very sensitive way which made the play very easy to watch. If you want a good evening this play fits the bill.

Margaret Hobbs from Northfield

Do Northfield Nights still exist?

Steph from The REP

Hello Margaret, thank you for your message. Yes, Northfield nights do still exist, and you can find out about them here http://www.birmingham-rep.co.uk/about/audience-ambitions/northfield-nights/ including the Northfield Nights dates for this season.

David Harris from Ludlow, Shropshire

My wife and I, and indeed the many students present judging by their reaction at the end, throughly enjoyed the play, actors, acting and stage props. I have promised myself for many years that I would see this play and fortunately it lived up to my expectations. Thanks to all concerned.

Sally from Bournville Birmingham

Brilliant - Absolutely brilliant! The set was great Congratulations to all involved!

Wendy Carter from Droitwich Spa

Not hard to see why this terrific production has been revived.Came on Saturday straight after an energetic tennis match-so totally absorbed in the drama was I,I could barely get up at the end-rooted to my seat by the journey with the characters---and stiffening muscles! It's a very cleverly constructed play, and as contemporary in themes as when written.Well done to all involved at the Rep.

Marion Barlow from Banbury

As the play subtlety reveals all is not what it seems, we totally enjoyed the whole production, from the set to the actors, from begining to end If you want a good evening this play fits the bill. We look forward to the next play we have booked!

Marcus J. Hubbard from Birmingham.

Absolutely amazing. Best play at the REP I've saw in a few years. Words cannot describe it. A must see!

Rosie Hatton from Wolverhampton

Absolutely brilliant the set was amazing and really contributed to the plot! A brilliant night out; thought provoking and haunting! Thanks

Jo from Smethwick

Fabulous production, loved it all. Highly recommended. Loved the set.

Averil Green from Sutton Coldfield

The cold journey to the Rep was well worth it! Marvellous set and the cast was excellent. The play's message is so appropriate to the current economic climate.

Lawrence from Birmingham

An absolutely brilliant portrayal. Cast outstanding. Set and effects incredible. Can't imagine this great piece of work being done better.

Kevin Hartley from Peterborough

Excellent - My students and I thoroughly enjoyed the performance. Mrs Birling was particularly magnificent! Lovely theatre and very helpful staff as well. Many thanks

Gina D'Auria from Bristol, but teach in Gloucester

I, the 19 students and other staff, thoroughly enjoyed the production. I especially loved the set and the effects, as well as the injections of humour. This was my first visit to The REP and I will definitely be going again!

steve whyte from birmingham

Beryl Jefferson from Sutton Coldfield

Could only get in at top price tickets, but it was worth every penny ! The set was breathtaking when the curtain went up, the acting superb, the pace and atmosphere terrific. What drama - what an experience. Thank you Rep.

Mina Hunjan from Ullenhall

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the matinee performance on Saturday, very well acted and what a gripping plot!. The actress who played Sheila was particularly credible as was the 'inspector'. The Rep is a great venue, we shall definately return.

Martin Baker from London

I saw Stephen Daldry's original production at the NT back in 1992 but I think this production topped it. Seriously spellbinding. Such a brilliant and clever play and superbly done. The Inspector and Shelia especially stood out for the extraordinary intensity of their acting. Theatre at its absolute best. Go see it!

Carole Cox from Sutton Coldfield

Excellent production and although we've seen the play twice before it was still gripping. Very thought-provoking and topical. Just one tiny criticism - in the final scene, because of the raucous laughter coming from the house, until Sheila moved right to the front of the stage, we couldn't hear what she was saying. Otherwise, a great show.

JOHN R POGMORE from Birmingham

Having seen the play in the Austalian town of Geraldton, an audience of 12 and the lead reading from the book, we really wanted to know what the play was all about. We were bowled over by the set, direction, acting and the way the play totally enfolded you in the situation which must have affected all the audience one way or another. I wonder how the 400? GCSE students have got on with their projects at school on the set book. Plenty food for thought to discuss. They obviously ejoyed the event and I wonder how many will take up theatre when they move on from school. I want to know what happened when the 2nd Inspector called!. Thankyou for a great evening.

Mrs Lathbury from Great Barr

My friend and I had the afternoon off work to see this play. We are so glad that we did. A strong and powerful performance by an excellent cast of actors. The scenery was very imaginative and the effects made is all so atmospheric. Funnily enough, there are some issues going on at work at the moment that made this play particularly relevant in our lives. I will carry the power and the impact of this play with me for a long time to come...

Annette Gill from Birmingham

Absolutely excellent. Gripping from start to finish. Very clever set. Assume this must be a set play for some exam, judging by the number of students in the audience.

Lucy from Lichfield

Saw this with my English class. A truly brilliant performance, really helped me to understand the play.
