Russell Dixon

Russell was a member of the National Youth Theatre and trained at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. This is his first appearance at Birmingham Repertory Theatre.

His Theatre work includes: Bergetton in Tis Pity She’s A Whore, Cliff in A Small Family Business and earlier this year, Chorus in Oedipus (National Theatre). For the Royal Shakespeare Company he appeared as the Cardinal in The Dutchess Of Malfi, Yeltsin in Moscow Gold, Gailunas in Singer and Simonides in Pericles.

In London he played Sergei in On Your Toes at The Royal Festival Hall and on tour in Japan, Sir Richard Everall in The Illustrious Corpse at The Soho Theatre, Byron in The Glory Of The Garden at the Duke of York’s Theatre and Dafydd in A Chorus Of Dissaproval at The Lyric Theatre. He also toured Cyprus and Denmark as Doolittle in My Fair Lady.

At the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester he was Alonso in The Tempest, Sorin in The Seagull, Colonel Lukyn in The Magistrate and Mr Peachum in The Beggar’s Opera. Performances in repertory theatre include: Dad in East, Brack in Hedda Garbler, Oscar Wilde in Saint Oscar, the Reciter in Pacific Overtures, Ben in Follies, Frederick in A Little Night Music at the Haymarket Theatre, Leicester and most recently at Leicester Curve, Tupolski in The Pillowman.

Also, he was King Lear in King Lear (Nottingham Playhouse); George in Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? (Crucible Theatre, Sheffield); Dysart in Equus, Pozzo in Waiting For Godot (Library Theatre, Manchester); Emcee in Cabaret, Stalin in Masterclass (Derby Playhouse) as well as numerous appearances at Bolton, Oldham, Greenwich, Scarborough and Oxford.

His Film work includes: Faces Off, Patagonia, Liam and The Emperor’s New Clothes.

Television includes: See No Evil, The Vice, Eleventh Hour, Christmas Lights, Northern Lights, Fat Friends, Peak Practice, Dalziel And Pascoe, Heartbeat, Coronation Street and The Royal Today.

He is a frequent radio broadcaster.
