“It was better than a biscuit”
In October 2004, we launched the REP’s Children project, through which the family of every baby born at City and Sandwell Hospitals in that month could sign up for a free theatre experience every year for ten years. Since then Early Years has become a key part of our learning and participation activity and produced some of our most exciting and original work. Our partnership with Birmingham’s Family Learning Service has created opportunities to develop new relationships with settings across the city, in which our Early Years Worker supports family learning through drama and story-making with 2 – 5 year olds, their parents and carers.
As well as maintaining the regular First Stages programme of visiting performances for young children, we annually produce a REP’s Children production with performances at The REP and in nurseries across the region.
Harborne Hill School Partnership
We have a strong relationship with Harborne Hill School. A member of our staff works both at the school and the theatre, creating the valuable link between both organisations; making it easier for students and staff to access the theatre and to extend the arts provision both in and outside the curriculum.
